Nintendo has unveiled a Mario Kart 8 Wii U Premium Pack, with plenty of other bundles and merchandise on offer for its fans. The reveal comes early for UK and Europe, as usual, but we expect it to be corroborated later for the US as well.
So what do we have? Nintendo already confirmed you can get the game on its own, as well as a Special Edition with the Blue Shell. Now, they’ve confirmed there will be complementary Wii Remotes for Peach and Yoshi, colored pink and yellow, and white, green and brown, respectively.

But, there’s more. The Nintendo UK website is offering Team Mario and Team Luigi Wii U bundles. Your choice will get you either an all-red or all-green package of a Wii U wheel, GamePad protector, Remote Plus and hat. Plus, you get the retail version of Mario Kart 8, a copy of the official game guide by Prima, and, if you live in the UK, a 7 day trial of Wii Karaoke U. We expect this slot could be filled out by a free trial for Wii Sports Club in the US, considering they are now selling Wii Us with that game bundled in over Nintendoland.
This is a pretty aggressive marketing push for the Wii U, and Nintendo clearly knows that many will literally buy their Wii Us for the 1st time for Mario Kart 8, hence, the bundles. Mario Kart 8 has also nabbed the company some mainstream attention that it has not had for some time. The big question on everyone’s minds is how well will this game sell, and how well will it sell the Wii U?
We’ll find out soon enough, as Mario Kart 8 is scheduled for release May 30. You can check out the UK announce trailer below.
