2020 was a downer year, there’s no getting around that. We’ve seen a ton of lows but with the coronavirus health pandemic outbreak, things changed quite drastically in our daily lives. Of course, there were a few high moments for the video game industry. While several games got pushed out from 2020 to 2021, there was one iconic hyped title that we couldn’t wait to get our hands-on. Best of all, it just made it to the marketplace before 2021 hit.
I’m talking about CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. Unfortunately, the hype and anticipation couldn’t match the actual end product. There was a ton of work that the developers needed to handle and it’s actually put CD Projekt Red in some legal action against investors. Still, there is quite a bit of rumors circulating online about what content was cut or even tucked away that left players digging to see what all they can uncover.
One particular individual discovered that Judy had a romance option for male V characters. In the game, Judy is only a romantic option for the female gender of V. As a result, there’s no chance of moving the relationship past just being a friend. However, it was discovered that changing one line of code would alter her preference. In fact, there’s even male dialogue that goes with this romance interaction which had plenty of players assuming that this romance option was just cut out of the game.
Now a new statement from CD Projekt Red to Eurogamer confirms that this is not the case. While there is voice-over work for the male version of V romancing Judy, it’s only done as a precaution. Apparently, there were only intentions of making Judy a romance option for the female version of V, but the lines were recorded just in case the writers changed their mind during development.
