D23, an official Disney fan site, has issued a correction after previously stating that Disney Infinity 2.0 will be released in August. The site adds that information on the game will be shared on April 30th.
During D23's April 15th News Briefs, the site commented that "Disney Infinity 2.0 is coming in August 2014," and linked to a trailer which revealed that Marvel super heroes are being added to the game.
The site's correction reads:
"In D23′s News Briefs published April 15, 2014, we erroneously reported about the launch of the next chapter of Disney Infinity. This information was incorrect. More news about Disney Infinity will be shared [at Disney's reveal event scheduled] on April 30, and we hope you will check back for that update."
The Wall Street Journal reported in February that Disney may introduce Star Wars characters to Infinity though you can unlock a lightsaber right now if you're prepared to spend $500. Disney owns both Star Wars and Marvel.
Disney Infinity sold three million copies by mid-January making it the 10th best selling game at retail in the US last year and Disney has previously announced plans to annualise the series. 700 Disney Interactive developers were laid off earlier this year but Disney Infinity was not affected by the redundancies.
