Capcom has shared a new video for Monster Hunter 4 G, slated to release this year in the West as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The monsters are back in full force in this one, and boy does it all look great.
For those wondering, the monsters revealed in this new trailer are Cephadrome, Daimyo Hermitaur, Diablos and Monoblos. Let’s run each one of them down briefly.
Diablos and Monoblos are both Flying Wyverns, the most obvious distinguishing characteristic being their heads. Diablos have the familiar giant horns atop their eyes, while Monoblos (in this case Hardcore Monoblos) take on the appearance of ceratopsians.
If you didn’t get it yet, the Daimyo Hermitaur takes its name from the lowly hermit crab, and like that crustacean, they take refuge in giant shells, seemingly owner by other animals. Like the hermit crab, they can hide from attacks in their shells, but some Monster Hunters are trained and equipped to break those shells.
Finally, the Cephadromes look like hammerhead sharks with wings and webbed feet, and boy do they look freaky as hell. They seem to live in deserts instead of the open seas, and can jump and soar in the air to attack, but then go hiding into the sand when they get overpowered.
Capcom has even more monsters to add to 4 G, that Westerners will get to enjoy all at once in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I will be personally surprised if they do not have a huge announcement slated for this E3. You can expect Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate come to 3DS in the West early next year.
