InFamous: Second Son is getting its first major patch. Due for release tomorrow, the update fulfills a number of requests that fans had for the game—such as the ability to disable the heads-up display (HUD), and the ability to adjust the time of day once you’ve completed the game.
As its developers promised, the patch includes the option to cap the game’s framerate at 30 FPS if you prefer playing this way instead of at 60 FPS, in which the game normally runs. If you prefer a more ‘cinematic’ look and feel to the game, this might just be the way to go.
Here’s what else they’re adding (via PS Blog):
– A handful of localization text changes, and a couple of fixes for rare crashes in the game (Thanks to all of you who uploaded reports on those, they were extremely helpful!).
– If your controller runs out of batteries in the middle of gameplay, your game will pause. Our art director pulled a hamstring scrambling to get his second controller mid-boss-battle, so we needed to fix this.
– If you’re choosing expert difficulty, we let you know within the options dialog if you’re qualified for the “Unstoppable” trophy the moment you opt in.
– Photo Mode
That last one is a big one. With the game’s new photo mode, you’ll be able to click L3 to pause the game and surf around the game’s scene and settings with a new suite of internal tools, such as setting the depth of field, to take even better screenshots. Watch the video below for further details.
Not bad for a free update.
