Red Candle Games is a pretty big name for indie horror titles. The studio first got off the ground with the video game Detention. It wasn’t long after that we got their next thrilling installment Devotion. This video game was a huge hit but very short-lived. After its release, fans and critics started to share this game around with friends, but it was discovered to have a meme based on Chinese president, Xi Jinping.
It was after this discovery that the game received a ton of backlash from the market, even after an update removed the reference completely. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough and the game was removed online. While fans were waiting to see it once again reappear online, there’s been no word on if Red Candle Games would be able to deliver the title after this fiasco. Still, the development studio is pressing on.
Recently, Netflix has adapted Detention into a series that fans can enjoy now. However, we’re also finding out that Red Candle Games is also delivering a brand new video game project. We don’t know anything about the game yet. Instead, all Red Candle Games offered was a tweet alerting followers that they are busy working on their next new video game titles. Information about just what this game will about remains to be seen.
Regardless, fans are likely itching to see their next project especially after having to pull Devotion from online marketplaces. Furthermore, with the development studio being well-known for this controversy, it could lead to an even bigger reception for their next title, although that is purely speculation on my part.
