Major Nelson has revealed the details of this month’s Xbox One update, currently rolling out to all owners. It is one of the biggest for the system by far, and includes some highly requested features.
Among the most requested features are notifications and progress bars for some basic functions. So, game saves now have a progress bar. Notifications now come up for games and apps that were updated or are in the process of being updates. You also get notifications for when friends and favorites sign in to Xbox Live. You will also be able to tell when people in multiplayer are in your friends list.
Kinect motion controls, GameDVR, and Blu-Ray 50Hz playback and recording, all received major performance updates. Firmware updates to controllers and headset adaptors will improve wireless connectivity and eliminate audio static.
Finally, and this has been a long time coming, your Xbox One will now be able to update itself automatically if updates are available while it is still turned off.
We do like to think this is a positive step forward for Team Xbox and its fans, and hope fans will find the console’s performance to be more than adequate after receiving the update. If you are an Xbox One owner, please share your experience with the update below.
