H1Z1 Hidden Images Found In Website Code

April 14, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Did Sony plan for an ARG? Maybe not, but it’s still cool to see these ‘leaks’.

Intrepid fans have found some really interesting images deep in the website code for H1Z1. To be quite blunt about it, it almost ruins the entire premise of the game – unless they had something else in mind.

So, this 1st one has gotten spead around firs, because of the interesting story behind its discovery. The figured out that the blinking light on the game's official website was actually emitting morse code, and when they took it down, they figured out it was a URL. The URL leads to a panoramic snapshot, and because of the pic's resolution and graphical detail, it is being propped up as proof of the game's scope and size. I say, it may just be nothing more than a picture, but hey, you can take a look at it and decide for yourself. You can see the picture below (original size here).

The other pic, well, there's nothing to hide after this one. A single fan found 'Fred', and he could not possibly look any worse for wear.

The story of Fred, oddly enough, is he was found in the site code the old fashioned way, and was unceremoniously removed. It makes you think Sony wanted to keep the zombie element as a surprise – unless it means something else.

You see, it looks like Sony may have planned an ARG to promote H1Z1, which we have not seen done for a videogame in ages. Actually, the last time we saw one with any success was I Love Bees, a campaign for Halo 2. I admit it would be weird for Sony to try this, but hey, consider how the panorama image was found. We may be about to get more  H1Z1 information in the coming weeks this way,

So, PS4 zombie game anyone? Or are you sick of zombies, and has this blown the wind from your sails? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
