Tomb Raider is an iconic action-adventure video game franchise that’s been around for decades at this point. Fans would take on the role of legendary archaeologist Lara Croft as she endures grand adventures that took her all over the world. While the franchise may have been previously known for the classic PlayStation video game titles with the tank controls, there was a positive change not long ago. Square Enix was able to deliver a reboot of the series.
Not long ago, we got a new trilogy of Tomb Raider games that saw Lara Croft as a vulnerable character forced to learn how to survive harsh elements. By the time the third game came around, Lara was a hardened adventurer that was willing to put it all on the line in order to prevent harm and supernatural elements from releasing onto the world.
That was a few years ago now at this point and it seems that Square Enix is ready to dust the IP off again for a new video game. Unfortunately, those that were hoping for a grand new adventure will be a letdown. Instead, this is a new free-to-play game for mobile devices called Tomb Raider Reloaded. We know that the game is being developed by Emerald City Games which could give you some insight as to how the game may be handled.
Unfortunately, that’s all we know at the moment. There was only a teaser trailer released which highlighted the name and gave a look at some enemy characters along with Lara Croft herself. This does look like it will be a colorful and cartoonish style video game which again is a drastic difference from the previous trilogy of Tomb Raider games. For now, we’ll have to wait and see just how this game handles when it launches sometime in 2021.
