Ubisoft Partners with Cirque du Soleil and Coeur de Pirate for Child of Light

April 9, 2014 by Yesika Reyes

Ubisoft announced their partnerships with Cirque du Soleil Media and famous singer Coeur de Pirate to further develop Child of Light.

Today, Ubisoft revealed that the company is partnering up with Cirque du Soleil Media to enhance the sense of theatricality in Child of Light and famous singer and pianist Coeur de Pirate to produce the game's original soundtrack.

Coeur de Pirate is a famous Canadian singer-songwriter. She is composing the game's soundtrack with the support of Bratislave Symphony Orchestra.

“Music is one of the most important ways to communicate emotion to players,” said Patrick Plourde, Creative Director, Ubisoft. “The music of Coeur de Pirate is fresh, romantic and optimistic, a perfect match for what we wanted to express with Child of Light. I am extremely honored that she wanted to join us on this adventure.”

It was also noted that collaborating with Cirque du Soleil Media was the perfect match to Child of Light's extravagant and exotic universe and design. Cirque du Soleil Media is well renowned throughout the globe for their shows that portray a dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment.

“Videogames invites players to be immersed in virtual worlds and no one is better to create immersive and magical experiences than the artists of the Cirque du Soleil,” said Plourde. “So to be able to collaborate with them to achieve Child of Light’s ambition to create a playable poem was a dream come true.”

Yesterday, we reported that Ubisoft also enlisted famous Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano to contribute unique artwork that will be available in the game's deluxe edition.

The game will be released on April 30th, 2014 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and Microsoft Windows for $14.99
