Cube World Is a Pretty, Blocky World Made of Voxels

June 14, 2011 by Josh Wanamaker

A new game called Cube World uses voxel-based graphics to convey its pretty, blocky world.

Indie title Cube World, which is currently making the rounds on all the sites of the internet, is said by some to be influenced by Minecraft. I wouldn’t say that, except technically I just did. Featuring procedurally generated worlds that are entirely destructible and intended RPG elements, Cube World is pretty and quite charming. Considering it’s only a few weeks old and not even available for the public to mess with, it’s generating quite a bit of hype. It’s also got a cute voxel editing application that allows players to create their own 3D sprites, which is actually a complete misnomer but whatever, I won’t quibble…except I just did!
