Halo 5: Walmart Lists October Release as 343 Hires to ‘Drive the Future of Halo’

April 4, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Software Development Engineer sought by 343 Industries.

HaloFollower has released a new YouTube video recaping all of the big Halo news of late and this time there's a lot to go on.

343 Industries is hiring a Software Development Engineer who will work:

"On one of the most exciting and and creative intellectual properties in the industry; we are gethering an incredible team to help drive the future of Halo."

Walmart.com has listed Halo 5 as releasing on October 1st, as most games in the franchise have launched in either September or November, this is most probably a holding date.

Halo: Spartan Assault is coming to PC via Steam today which raises the prospect of core Halo titles also being released through Valve's client.

Speaking to Engadget, new head of Xbox Phil Spencer has vowed to renew the focus on games across all Microsoft platforms, including PC but told Examiner that "we have no further Halo releases on Steam planned at this time." Of course, that doesn't rule out the possibility by any means.

Regarding the Halo TV show, announced at the Xbox One's reveal event last year, Spencer said that putting the franchise onto new mediums is "a good thing for Halo, a good thing for the platform, and a good thing for the IP owners. We did this last holiday with Forward Unto Dawn, which had something like 70 million viewers. I think it helped us with the launch of Halo 4, but it was also just this people liked to watch."

The release date for the TV show is still unknown. Yesterday, it was revealed that Alien and Blade Runner director Ridley Scott has signed on to produce a Halo digital feature.
