The official Dragon Age Twitter account has shared another peek at the world of Dragon Age 3 Inquisition. Reintroducing the Exalted Plains, in Dales.
Dales is the southeastern area of Orlais found west of Ferelden. In Dragon Age lore, they were the homeland of the elves of Thedas for nearly three centuries. Their capital, and only city, was Halamshiral, found in the northeast. These elves were former slaves of humans. They sought to rebuild their culture when they were granted the land to make of it what they will. In later years, they isolated themselves from the world of men, either out of distrust of humans or to regain immortality.
As to what the Exalted Plains are, we are not quite sure. We know of only two things called Exalted in the Dragon Age universe thus far. There was the Exalted Marches, a series of religious crusades, mostly led by the Chantry. And then there was the Exalted Age, a period between 5:00 and 5:09 in Thedas history. Some of the Exalted Marches occurred in this period, but more importantly, Divine Justinia II takes the name Exalted in her war against the Tevinter Imperium.
I imagine the Exalted Plains are a battlefield, or an important place in the war. Possibly a peace treaty or meeting of some sort has or will occur here. We will let you know when Bioware lends us more clues, but if not, you can find out about it soon enough. Dragon Age 3 Inquisition is coming to Windows, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, on Q3 2014.
