Alien Director Ridley Scott Producing Halo ‘Digital Feature’

April 3, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The feature is expected to be released later this year and Microsoft will have more details at E3.

Microsoft has announced that Ridley Scott, the director of such acclaimed sci-fis as Alien and Blade Runner, has joined a Halo "digital feature" as executive producer, the feature will be released later this year.

In an email sent to GameInformer, Microsoft commented:

"343 Industries, Xbox Entertainment Studios and Scott Free Productions are proud to announce a new "Halo" digital feature project to be released later this year. The project will be executive produced by Ridley Scott and Scott Free TV President, David Zucker. Sergio Mimica-Gezzan ("Battlestar Galactica" "Pillars of the Earth," "Heroes") will direct."

News of the feature comes after Microsoft denied Scott's involvement in a Halo movie in January saying there were "no plans" to make one at the time.

In a statement, Microsoft said of the project, “We are not confirming additional information on the project at this time, but will have more to share at E3.”

At the Xbox One's reveal event in May of last year, Microsoft also announced a Halo TV series which will be produced by Steven Speilberg. Nothing has been revealed regarding the show since.

It's unclear whether Scott's production will tie into the TV show or what form it will take, possibly following in the footsteps of Forward Unto Dawn.

Yesterday, we reported on the rumour that Forward Unto Dawn actress Jenna Berman, who played Kelly-087, has been cast in Halo 5.
