Yoshi's New Island: Stars, Flowers and Red Coins Location Walkthrough Guide: World 1-6 And Special Stages

For those not in the know, the Yoshi games have a funny little quirk in them. You can play the game just for the ending, and it’s a fairly easy, even relaxing experience that way. However, if you go back in to find all the collectables, you will find that they are among the most demanding, addictive Nintendo platformers there are, up there with the Kirby and original Super Mario Brothers games.

So, you will want to have finished the game proper before getting into this. Believe us, it’s really easy to do just bookmark us and come back here when you have. Unless you want to see all the locations now and try taking it in one go, in which case, we wish you the best of luck.

So here’s the deal. Each world in Yoshi’s New Island has 30 stars, 20 red coins, and 5 flowers to collect. As you collect regular coins, some coins will out themselves as red coins. You can try to memorize which coins in this playthrough are red coins, but chances are you’ll end up trying to collect them all anyway.

You start off each stage with 10 stars, but when you get hit, your baby goes off in a bubble, and you will start losing stars. If you happen to still have 10 or less stars, you can recover them all back, but not beyond that. Therefore, you have to avoid permanent damage throughout the game.

The flowers don’t give you any bonus or effect, but with the stars and red coins, they unlock the special stages hidden in each world. Of course, you can then go through those stages to collect stars, red coins and flowers as well.
