Twisted Fusion Could Be The First Kickstarter Promised Solely For Wii U

April 1, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

It does give an interesting look at what such a project would look like.

Leuvision has unveiled what may be a 1st for crowdfunders so far: Twisted Fusion, if fully funded on Kickstarter, could make its way to Wii U, as an exclusive.

In Twisted Fusion, you play Cora, your most heroic nonmetahuman this side of MJ Watson, out to save the world from an invasion of creepy crawlies. Cora’s weapons? A bunch of loaded water pistols, water bombs, and for the big baddies, an ever loving water cannon. They’re weak to water, you see.

The game is described as not quite a Metroidvania; the game retains some, but not all, of that genre’s familiar tropes. So, it’s a large open-ended map, with hidden areas you can find for yourself, as well as places you can retrace and unlock after finding special area opening tools.

Combat is a huge emphasis in this game, and as such, the water pistols come unlimited. It will also have day / night and weather systems, with monsters getting nastier and larger in rainy weather (apparently you’re equipped with seawater).

Developer Lewis Pugh is gunning for £3,000, and, true to form, the stretch goals do not include any ports, but instead extra game modes and enhancements to the game. This includes voice acting and co-op gameplay, and culminates in £30,000 to fund an entirely second game; 21 Days. 21 Days takes inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, with our trusty redhead eschewing her guns for some blades. You only have three weeks, a diary, and an RPG system to back you up, so you better make it good on this one.

Lewis has quite a bit of experience making games on mobile, so there should be no doubt that he’s up to the task. Perhaps of more interest is that this is what a console-exclusive indie crowdfund looks like. While the game seems relatively modest, if successful it could set the tone for future console-exclusive crowdfunds, with money possibly placed on funding more ambitious projects.
