Thus far, Blizzard has only been able to confirm Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition for the PlayStation 4. However, the game may yet see release on the Xbox One based on a newly released interview by the game’s lead producer Alex Mayberry.
Speaking with Videogamer, Mayberry said that though the game has not been announced for the Xbox One, the game is being actively developed for the platform simultaneous to its development on the PlayStation 4, and that it’s up to Blizzard and Microsoft to hash out the details.
“We have that pipeline worked out,” said Mayberry. “We’ve already done it with the 360 and PS3, so that team knows how to develop at the same time for both of those platforms. That’s just what we do. And then Blizzard and Microsoft can work out whatever they work out.
“The point is we are developing for Xbox [One] and PS4 simultaneously. We hit those major platforms and then our goal as a development team is to make them run.”
It’s unlikely that the game will not see release on the Xbox One given its development, but in any case, Mayberry was unable to offer any confirmation about the game’s release on the platform.
Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition includes the base game as well as its expansion pack, Reaper of Souls, which is due for release tomorrow on the PC and Mac.
