Microsoft is seeking to "actively encourage [players] to be better" while gaming online on Xbox One with gifts being awarded to players for good social behavior.
At a talk dedicated to ID@Xbox developers attended by Polygon at the Game Developers Conference, Microsoft's Frank Savage said the company want to give gifts to those whose online reputation is "soaring because you're this amazing player that everyone wants to be with".
While the rewards have yet to be determined, they will represent Xbox's way of saying "thanks for being such a good member of the community, here's a reward"
When the Xbox One's reputation system was detailed last June, senior product manager Mike Lavin said:
"Ultimately, if there's a few per cent of our population that are causing the rest of the population to have a miserable time, we should be able to identify those folks.
"So there'll be very good things that happen to people that just play their games and are good participants. And you'll start to see some effects if you continue to play bad or, or harass other people en masse. You'll probably end up starting to play more with other people that are more similar to you."
It's likely that Microsoft will reveal more of their plans to implement a reward system at E3.
