The PlayStation 4 is still in its infancy. The next-generation console hasn’t been on the market for more than five months, and that means that Sony is learning exactly what consumers want out of the box each and every day. Feedback is critical to the hardware’s growth, and an upcoming update for the PS4 is promising to address many of the most prevalent fan complaints that have been aired since launch.
When the update goes live, players can expect an improved video editor with an easy-to-use tool to personalize video clips, as well as the option to export and save the videos and screenshots created by pressing the Share button to a USB drive. An HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI is another highlighted addition, showing a real focus on the Share functionality that Sony’s been pushing since the console was first announced.
It might not come in this particular update, but the PlayStation team has also promised Twitch video archives in the near future, where players can rewatch past streams in 720p. More information on this pair of patches will be provided soon.
