The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED has confirmed that it is making a game for mobile devices.
In a management report, CD Projekt RED revealed that it is developing a game for mobile which co-founder Adam Kiciński said will be announced "very soon" along with a beta launch.
During the report it was noted that:
"For several months, along with an external partner, we worked on another, unannounced project, which we plan to launch this year.
"It's a multiplatform mobile game, made with advanced technological capabilities of tablets and smartphones in mind. Thus, we are entering a completely new territory in terms of gameplay and business model, realising our strategic plans to enter the mobile gaming market."
It's unclear who the external developer is, CD Projekt RED refers to "a brand" being licensed, most likely meaning the game in question will be set in The Witcher universe.
Kiciński confirmed that such a game is in development, issuing the following statement to Eurogamer:
"Smartphones and tablets are truly powerful platforms these days and are finally giving us the ability to develop mobile games we would like to play ourselves; games that are taking full advantage of newest smartphone and tablet technologies, and offer the quality level that we, as a studio, are always aiming to achieve."
CD Projekt RED recently announced that Wild Hunt has been delayed until February 2015 but insisted that development of Cyberpunk 2077 has not been affected.
