If you owned a Nintendo 64, you played Mario’s debut in the 3D world. The platformer stands as one of the most beloved, influential products to ever come out of Nintendo, and one fan of the classic adventure has decided that now’s the perfect time to bring Mario 64 into the modern era.
Mario aficionado aryoksini has taken it upon himself to recreate the N64 hit with HD graphics, and while the level shown above is obviously incomplete, the character model for Mario himself is really something to behold. You can watch him jump, slide, and wall-hop in this short clip, where you’ll hear the catchy tunes from the original game (via CVG).
Will he get the whole game done? I sure hope so. But if the task becomes too great to complete, it’s at least interesting to see a game so many people hold in such high regard looking this good.
