Speaking at the BAFTA Game Awards 2014, BioShock Infinite actress Courtnee Draper has said that she would reprise her role as Elizabeth if a movie adaptation of the game is ever made.
Asked by IGN if she would be inclined to return to Colombia on the big screen, Draper said:
"Are you kidding me?! Yes! Hopefully it doesn’t take 20 years and then I’m too old, and could only play Old Elizabeth, but I think that would be so phenomenal. It’s something I’ve been talking to Ken about too because I’m excited for it, I’d be really excited to see that come to life on the big screen."
She added that she has discussed the possibility of a movie with Infinite creative director Ken Levine. A movie was planned for the original BioShock but that project stalled when director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, of 28 Weeks Later fame, and producer Gore Verbinski, who is most noted for the Pirates of the Caribbean series, left the production. Levine ultimately pulled the plug on the entire operation.
Draper also discussed the recent news that Irrational Games has downsized with most staff made redundant as part of the move.
"I didn’t know it was happening until he released it and I saw the same letter everyone else did on Irrational’s website. I’m excited to see what he does with it, and I think all the people at Irrational are incredibly talented and they’re being picked up on other games and franchises, so it’s exciting to see what he does next."
The final chapter of BioShock Infinite, Burial at Sea Episode 2, is set for release on March 25th and sees players take on the role of Elizabeth for the first time.
