The Australian Classification Board has increased the age rating of Ubisoft's Watch_Dogs from 15+ to 18+.
Last September, the game was rated at 15+ and it's noted that the game contains "References to sexual violence and sex scenes." Watch_Dogs' themes, drug use, and sex are all said to have a "strong impact" on players while violence has "high impact," the maximum level which can be given to a game.
It's unclear what prompted the decision to re-evaluate the game but the rating does not that the version tested has been "modified."
Australia has been criticised in the past for censoring games with South Park: The Stick of Truth being the latest victim and for having an otherwise harst game classification system. State of Decay was banned last year over its depictions of drug use and Saints Row 4 was at one time denied a classification because it featured an alien anal probe.
Watch_Dogs is set for release on May 27th for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The Wii U version has been delayed until an unspecified date and could launch as last as 2015 according to producer Dominic Guay.
