Chivalry: Medieval Warfare 2 will offer exactly what gamers would expect from this franchise so far. This is a multiplayer-focused FPS medieval hack-and-slash game with the support of up to 64 players in a battle. Developers have taken a keen approach in delivering a gameplay experience that would mimic big cinematic battles. It’s clear that there is certainly a market for these games still after the success of Mordhau in 2019, which offered a very similar experience to Chivalry. We didn’t really have much of a release date set for this game, but we do know that it was going to be out exclusively on the Epic Games Store marketplace for a duration of time.
This has been quite a hectic and intense year. Thanks to the coronavirus health pandemic outbreak, everyone was or is currently facing quarantines. In order to keep the virus from further spreading and allowing medical teams to find a cure, there is a ton of work being placed into allowing the spread of people. For instance, there has been plenty of jobs going to remote work such as video game studios. As you can imagine, the transition was not easy for every studio and as a result, the time to complete these games was extended.
2020 is seeing quite a few titles get pushed back thanks to the transition into remote work. One of the latest titles to get the delay announcement comes from Torn Banner Studios. Taking to the official Chivalry 2 website, the development studio left a blog post alerting fans that the game was being pushed back by a year.
“As we settle in to working together in new ways in a COVID-19 world, our development timelines are shifting to utilize this additional time to better meet our core goals for Chivalry 2, as well as allowing us to incorporate several quality of life improvements and also include what was originally post-launch content, in the release.”
At any rate, it looks like the developers are wanting to ensure that the game is ready for the public and not rushed out the doors. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date attached outside of 2021. However, we can expect a release on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
