Publisher Bandai Namco has announced that 1.1 million copies of Ni no Kuni: Wraith of the White Witch have been shipped worldwide to date.
Another 600,000 units of the Japan-only Nintendo DS Ni no Kuni have also been shipped to date bringing the combined franchise number to 1.7 million.
While these numbers reflect the amount of copies sold to retailers, rather than consumers, the game remains hard to find, suggesting that sales figures aren't too far off.
The 1.7 million figure is up by 300,000 units since September of last year when 1.4 million copies of the two games had been shipped. Ni no Kuni Wraith of the White Witch was released in January, 2013.
Neither developer Level 5 or Bandai Namco have revealed what's in store next for the series but they do refer to Ni no Kuni as a "franchise" suggesting they're not yet done with the JRPG.
Our review of Wraith of the White Witch criticised the game's frustrating difficulty spikes and cheap boss fights.
