OnLive’s Back With New Steam Partnership

March 5, 2014 by Stephen Daly

CloudLift subscription promises ‘anywhere-access to digital games’.

Cloud gaming service OnLive is back following it's collapse in 2012 with a new Steam partnership and the announcement of subscription program called CloudLift.

CloudLift combines a users' existing Steam library games with their OnLive account to offer cross-saves between the two meaning you can start off on a PC and then pick up where you left off on Mac, Linux, Android devices, or TVs with the OnLive game system. Fees will cost $14.99 per month.

Batman: Arkham Origins and Saints Row IV will launch with the service while other titles such as Europa Universalis IV and F1 2013 are planned for CloudLift which will support multiplayer gaming.

OnLive executive chairman Mark Jung commented:

"We've listened to our players. They want the convenience of instant access to their games wherever they are, but they also want to own the game and be able to play it locally on their home PC.

"With this new offering, we're continuing to expand on the compatibility, freedom and instant access our users enjoy, with the added flexibility of owning a local copy of their games."

OnLive folded around the same time Sony purchased rival Gaikai. In January, Gaikai was relaunched as PlayStation Now, a game streaming subscription service which will not tie users to PlayStation devices but does require the use of a DualShock controller.
