Unfortunately, it seems that Obsidian Entertainment and Ubisoft failed to remove all the Nazi symbols in South Park: The Stick of Truth for Germany and Austria as promised. As a result, the game is still unavailable for both countries.
Section 86a of Germany’s criminal code, or Strafgesetzbuch, outlaws the ‘use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations.’ Following Germany’s post wartime constitution, the law expressly bans the use of any symbols related to or associated with Nazis.
German and Austrian Steam users were left with a message indicating that the game remained unavailable, but they would be announcing a release date soon, presumably to remove said offending symbols. Rumors are also going around that wholesalers in Germany received uncensored PS3 versions as well, although these have yet to be corroborated. Still, Steam players will not have to reorder or cancel, as it just amounts to a delay, so there's that.
The game is already available in the US, and pending release in other regions. It’s a shame for players in Germany, although of course possible alternative outcomes would be even less desirable. We hope German and Austrian players won’t have to wait too long for what our review has deemed a fine game.
