Sledgehammer Games is recruiting new game developers right now, and job postings have revealed several new potential features for the Call of Duty franchise. The studio is said to be working on the 2014 entry to the longstanding Call of Duty series, giving us good reason to believe that the features they request may be in the works for the upcoming game.
The new Call of Duty is said to be a big leap over the series’ previous entry, Ghosts, and that it’s being developed for current-gen systems (PS4 and Xbox One) as a priority.
The job listings appeared on Gamasutra, where they listed an interesting position for a temporary VFX Artist.
It reads: “The candidates will have the opportunity to contribute in various areas of in-game effects including but not excluding weaponry effects, vehicle destruction, large-scaled rigid body simulations and environmental effects such as fire, smoke, water, and weather system.”
It bears noting that previous games did not offer a ‘weather system’, though they did feature weather. There were exploding vehicles, but those effects were entirely pre-scripted.
