Blake Harris's yet-to-be-released book, Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo And The Battle That Defined A Generation, is going to be introduced to a whole new audience in the form of a feature film. The story of how gaming grew into the massive industry that it is today might not sound like the next big screening people will line up for miles to see, but add Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to the poster, and the interest level goes up quite a bit.
The pair will write and direct the upcoming movie (via Independent.ie). Rogen and Goldberg previously worked on Superbad, Pineapple Express, and This Is The End, so it’s really the subject matter that’s the biggest change in this case.
The description for Harris’s book gives a clearer picture of what you can expect from the upcoming film.
“Based on over two hundred interviews with former Sega and Nintendo employees, Console Wars is the underdog tale of how Kalinske miraculously turned an industry punchline into a market leader,” it reads. “It’s the story of how a humble family man, with an extraordinary imagination and a gift for turning problems into competitive advantages, inspired a team of underdogs to slay a giant and, as a result, birth a $60 billion dollar industry”
It’s a bizarre headline to read, but the duo isn’t lacking in experience. Look to hear more on Console Wars as it begins its journey to the big screen.
