Free No Man’s Sky: Desolation Update Brings Science Fiction Horror

July 16, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

Scavenge abandoned freighters in space.

When Hello Games first introduced the world with No Man’s Sky, it was met with a massive amount of anticipation and hype. Fans worldwide couldn’t wait to dive into the game when it launched, although it was clear that some of the features and attributes fans were hoping for were missing. This caused Hello Games to continue bringing out updates to make the title up to par with expectations which the studio managed to do. In fact, if you’re still playing the game today, you will find a free update available.

No Man’s Sky: Desolation was an update that is now available for free. With this update, fans will be able to explore some freighters that were lost in space. Inside, whether it be solo or with a friend, players can venture inside the abandoned vessel which will be procedurally generated. Furthermore, the content inside will tell some background information on how the ship was left alone. When searching around these crafts, players can salvage goods that will help upgrade your own ship, but don’t expect this to be a cakewalk.

Inside the freighter will range from a few different hostilities. You may find the defense system in the ship to still be functional or an infestation of aliens that you may have to fight off. From the trailer released, it looks like the development team is trying to bring out a horror vibe type of gameplay to the science fiction adventure title.

Best of all, it’s a free update which means that if you own a copy of the game you can dive into these abandoned freighters right now. If you don’t already own a copy of No Man’s Sky, the title is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
