We continue to see hints and leaks for what we now believe will be Fallout 4, but nothing official has come from developer Bethesda Softworks. The massive studio often takes its time when it comes to developing open-world epics of this degree, and game director Todd Howard told Rock, Paper, Shotgun that he believes his team is still a ways away from making any announcements.
“We don’t [have a timeframe for our next game announcement],” he said, “but I think it’s gonna be a while.
“We’ve gotten fairly used to all the questions and curiosity over the years. Everyone wants information. Right now, we’re just trying to figure out which of our ideas are going to stick and finding an appropriate time to talk about it.”
It felt like we were so close when a fan-made ARG first appeared. There was just so much detail within the scam that fans began to hold on to the thought that it could be a real teaser for the next post-apocalyptic project.
“The ARG was very, very well done,” he said. “It’s a testament to our fans. And they’re doing that stuff and making mods. The stuff they do, we often look at and go, ‘Well, why don’t we just do that? That’s really great.’”
Let’s just all hope Howard is pulling our legs, and that we’ll see something big before the end of the year.
