VR has had a big spread in popularity this generation of video game consoles. It’s a platform that saw the release of Oculus, HTC Vive, and even Sony’s PlayStation VR headset. We’re also seeing plenty of game releases that are made specifically for VR. With that said, there is also plenty of video games that received a VR port later on such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim along with LA Noire. In fact, it looks like Rockstar Games is interested in developing another VR game much like the port of LA Noire.
The development studio had hired Video Games Deluxe to take the lead on LA Noire VR and while the game launched, it seems that the VR bug has lingered on for Rockstar. In a new job listing post from the Video Games Deluxe studio alerting viewers on Linkedin that they are currently developing a VR game for Rockstar Games. With it came several job postings to help with the project. Unfortunately, there is no information regarding what the game would be about. It could very well be a brand new title for players to enjoy or it may be another VR port.
While Rockstar is coming off their successful launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, it would seem that their main focus would be Grand Theft Auto 6. Perhaps this VR title is something that will be a port from the past works in the catalog such as Grand Theft Auto V or a Red Dead Redemption 2 VR version. Being that the studio is just hiring for this project, it very well could be a good while before we see this game get unveiled to the masses.
Since we are going to be waiting a bit, what are you hoping to see a VR version of a past Rockstar Games title? Likewise, would you rather see the studio take on a new IP altogether with the intentions of the game being made as a VR only game?
