The Fable franchise has had quite the following over the years and continues to get rumored about despite the last mainline installment releasing all the way back in 2010. While the series had its ups and downs, there is certainly a marketplace of players that would enjoy diving back into this Microsoft exclusive. Likewise, while there are always rumors regarding Fable and what’s next for the series, it looks like we may have a big uptick in rumors after fans discovered Microsoft had renewed the trademark for the franchise.
This trademark was issued back on June 26 and it seems that Microsoft has plans for the franchise in some capacity. Unfortunately, nothing official has been revealed about the series but this trademark could be an indicator that we will see a new take on the series with the upcoming Xbox Series X. After all, there is likely plenty of push behind Microsoft for exclusives available on the Xbox umbrella for the upcoming console generation.
At any rate, this is nothing new for companies to renew trademarks. It was just last month that we got word of Capcom renewing Deep Down, a free-to-play game that was announced back in 2013 but had never reached any further in development. These companies may very well just keep these trademarks and plans tucked away in case the sudden urgency hits to bring out the title into the market.
For now, it looks like there’s nothing here to announce for an official Fable game either on this current-generation Xbox One or the next-generation Xbox Series X. Still, this could give us a slight nod on what we may see in an upcoming video game highlight stream from Microsoft.
