Let’s take a step back from all the fighter screenshots and jump straight into some video for the upcoming EA Sports UFC. EA’s latest MMA project is pushing next-generation consoles in order to achieve the most realistic sports game possible, but it’s not just the sharp graphics that makes the game feel like a real battle inside the UFC’s Octagon. One of the most crucial elements to incorporate in an MMA game is personality, and the above video showcases what the team is doing to guarantee that each of the combatants looks, acts, and fights like they do in real life.
All the motion capture and time with the fighters has helped EA Sports create virtual fighters that own mannerisms identical to their real-life counterparts. Both in reality and the game, Rashad Evans crawls into the Octagon before taking it to his opponent. Jon Jones does a quick cartwheel as he moves toward his corner. And the flyweight champion, “Mighty Mouse”? He just goes bonkers. What’s shown above is shockingly similar to what so many people tune into just about every Saturday night – and this is still some early, in-development footage.
We don’t have a solid release date, but EA Sports UFC is expected to launch this spring on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
