Titanfall Sees Some Delay For Xbox 360

February 8, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Xbox One and PC versions are coming out as scheduled. Don’t complain, fans – you should be more worried about Titanfall’s servers, anyway.

Electronic Arts has revealed on their site that they have revised the release date for Titanfall for the Xbox 360.

The Xbox One and PC versions are still going as scheduled, thanks to work by Respawn Entertainment. North America will be getting the game on March 11, and Europe on March 13.

Regarding the Xbox 360 version, this is again a matter of outsourcing. EA and Respawn are working with Bluepoint Games. And so the 360 version will be coming March 25 in North America, and March 28 in Europe, in EA’s words, to “ensure the full world of Xbox gamers has an awesome experience.”

Bluepoint Games has basically made their name on ports and remasters. They did the God of War Collection for the Playstation 3 in 2009, Ico and Shadow of The Colossus Collection, again for PS3, in 2011, and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, for Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, on 2011 for PS3 and Xbox 360. They also brought Flower and Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale to the Vita.

EA never really lets on what’s happening on the surface, but it seems that the Xbox 360 version was an afterthought and the game was really made for Xbox One or PC 1st. I really do not think fans have that much to gripe on here, anyway, since the delay is a matter of weeks, and not months or years. The bigger concern in my mind is if Microsoft has allocated enough servers to accommodate demand. Respawn’s Jon Shiring has argued for the benefits of the cloud before. We’ll see if the final game lives up to that promise.
