From World of Warcraft's launch in 2004, 100 million players set foot in Azeroth with over 500 million World of Warcraft characters created. To draw out what 100 million players can accomplish, Blizzard released an infographic detailing the many accomplishments in World of Warcraft player base.
Between the Horde, Alliance and neutral Pandaren race, 52% of players sided with the Alliance, 47% with the Horde and 1% with the new Pandarens. Between the three factions, players created 500 million characters with 316 million of those characters from the United States.
With the 500 million characters, players fight in over 670, 000 PvP instances each day and team-up in over 900,000 PvE instances. And because building the best characters sometimes requires a little outside help, players search 'World of Warcraft' and 'WoW' 50 million times per year on Google.
Blizzard wants to keep World of Warcraft subscribers enthusiastic all year round. Although the company just announced the Warlords of Draenor expansion, Blizzard already began development of the next content release. The side-by-side development of expansions will hopefully bring more frequent expansion releases, which Blizzard sees as an important change for the future success of World of Warcraft.
