Dragons, the game’s main element, random appear in the game’s world – Completely unscripted. Injured dragons can’t fly, so you will have the chance to fell them on your home turf. This doesn’t make them any less devastating though, it only routes their chance to escape.
While dragons traditionally breathe fire and fire only, Bethesda has taken it one step further: Dragons can now breathe a myriad of elements including fire, ice, lightning, and wind. It’s rumored that one of these breaths even holds the power to slow time.
The choices for your weaponry are also very open in terms of what combinations you wish to use. Some of these include:
– Weapon and weapon
– Weapon and shield
– Weapon and torch
– Spell and weapon
– Spell and Spell
– Two-handed weapon
The game features a new mechanic by the name of ‘Radiant-Story’. The men and women at the Bethesda studio felt that some of the quests in Oblivion felt ‘fake’, and are confident that this will make the quests in Skyrim feel more ‘real’.
Purportedly, there are 13 different types of ore you can use for crafting and smithing.
60,000 lines of recorded dialogue exist within the game’s confines, with a diverse background of voice actors. Fallout 3 only had 40,000.
Three new factions are also going to be present in the Skyrim universe, alongside the ‘Dark Brotherhood’:
– The Thieves Guild
– The College of Winter Hold – For mages.
– The Companions – For warriors.
Stories told within these faction quest-lines will be woven together, and at times follow along with the main story.
Every town and city in ‘Skyrim’ has its own economy. The player has the option to sabotage the city if they choose. Cities are still patrolled by guards, however – So don’t be too rash. In terms of bounties, players cannot accept a bounty in one part of the land and then collect the bounty in another. It must be started and finished at one hold.

– Fast-Travel System (Carriages)
