The Next Xbox Series X Event Will Be About Video Games

April 23, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

The wait won’t be long according to Phil Spencer.

We’re gearing towards the launch of the next-generation video game console platforms. Both Sony and Microsoft are planning to release their next platforms during the holiday season. However, news for both consoles has been a bit scarce. For Microsoft, the last big unveil we had was mainly focused around the hardware running the device but there’s still plenty of questions left unanswered regarding the features or video game titles coming out for the platform. When asked about the future of the video games from Microsoft, Phil Spencer noted that the next reveal will be based around video games coming out.

We know that the next-generation Xbox Series X platform won’t have any exclusives directly from Microsoft. Instead, the games that launch for the next few years will be available on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. With that said, the games will likely have more than a few enhancements when being used on the Xbox Series X. There’s even a feature included known as Smart Delivery where consumers only have to buy one copy of a game to get both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X platform editions.

Reviewed plans yesterday for continued sharing through launch. Team is doing great work and adapting. I've never been more excited about Xbox plans. We've heard you, you want transparency/authenticity. We plan to keep showing that way, next step is not too much of a wait (games)

While we know that there are video games in the works, we’re not sure just what all is coming out with this new hardware. Phil Spencer was around to answer a question a fan asked regarding video games and the planning going into them for the Xbox Series X. According to Phil Spencer, the team is working on transparency and delivering fans the news when possible. In fact, the next step is about video games and we won’t have much of a wait to endure.

We’re not sure if this reveal will strictly only be about video games nor do we know just when the event will take place. E3 was scheduled in June and that was typically when video game announcements were featured. However, that’s still a bit away so we could see something unveiled within the coming month, though that is purely speculative on our part.
