Bohemia Interactive continues to fuel the weird dream of a zombie apocalypse as DayZ sells 875,000 copies on Steam in the alpha stage of the development.
The Early Access game released on December 16, 2013 and continues to sell thousands of copies another week passes. Since the game released its in alpha stage, players should expect many bugs and unfinished features Bohemia plans for the full release.
On the DayZ Tumblr, even Bohemia Interactive recommends that players avoid purchasing DayZ in its alpha stage.
"It’s a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle."
Following the DayZ mod, the alpha release of the DayZ standalone still retains the unforgiving nature players first gravitated towards. But with their vision still not yet realized, Bohemia Interactive doesn't expect to enter the beta phase of development until the end of 2014.
While the three weeks of DayZ Early Access revealed many bugs Bohemia works to resolve, the studio also needs to dedicate time to reach the beta phase of development. The team plans to address the major problems in the short term, but will eventually migrate to complete their 2014 development goals.
Players can enter the DayZ Early Access now through Steam.
