There’s nothing too unusual about video game titles getting cancelled, reimagined, or simply get stuck in development hell. We’re not entirely sure where to put WiLD quite yet as there’s a new sign of life from the development team. Thanks to some images uploaded online, it looks like we’re still going to see WiLD release into the market, but we’re uncertain as to if this will still be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
For those that don’t remember, WiLD is a game being developed by Wild Sheep Studio for the PlayStation 4. This is a survival adventure game set during the Neolithic period where players take the role of a human that can control wildlife around him. Not too much information was showcased for the game since its announcement in 2014 during Gamescom, but since then it’s been relatively quiet from the studio in regards to where the game stands at the moment.
The video game title was revealed to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive, but since being stuck in development for several years now, most have labeled it as vaporware. Essentially, vaporware is abandoned content that won’t make its way into the market, but that may no longer be the case after new concept images surfaced on the official development studio website. There wasn’t anything that was showcased with the images, so all we know is that there is still something being worked on at the studio.
For most of us, we’re wondering if these concept images are still in tune with the original vision of WiLD. Likewise, if this is still a game IP that the studio is working on, we’re wondering if at this point the game is being pushed to the next-generation PlayStation 5 console. With Sony still having to showcased their next platform release, perhaps we could see something showcased from WiLD for the PS5.
