The Elder Scrolls Online game director Paul Sage has explained to Official Xbox Magazine how players can become Emperor of Tamriel and what achieving the lofty position means.
Essentially, the process involves heading to the province of Cyrodiil, the game's PvP region, and engaging in fights with a lot of other players.
As you capture keeps, heal allies, and kill other players you'll earn Alliance Points in addition to experience and loot and the more keeps you control the better the bonuses will be.
When an Alliance with the most points takes control of all the keeps surrounding the Imperial City the member of the Alliance with the highest number of points is crowned Emperor. Sage commented:
"Players who become Emperor will get a full skill line that they keep throughout the rest of their lives in The Elder Scrolls Online. It won't be easy to become Emperor, but we think people will be glad they worked for it."
Players who become Emperor will unlock special armour which you can see at the top of this post.
It seems PvP combat is the only way to seize the throne. The Elder Scrolls Online is set for a PC release on April 4th followed by PS4 and Xbox One launches in June and reportedly has a $200 million budget.
