According to a since deleted tweet by Kotaku's Superannuation, The Elder Scrolls Online has a budget of $200 million.
EA's Star Wars: The Old Republic, another MMO, is also reported to have cost $200 million to develop and given Zenimax Online Studios has more developers working on The Elder Scrolls Online over a longer period the figure seems most likely accurate.
The Old Republic went free-to-play after less than a year on the market as BioWare struggled to recoup the costs of game through subscriptions and Bethesda and Zenimax will no doubt face similar pressures when The Elder Scrolls Online launches. Subscriptions will cost players $14.99/€12.99/£8.99.
Regardless, the game is set for release on April 4th for PC and at some point in June for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. PS4 gamers will have early access to the title's beta.
