After a long silence on the issue, Rockstar Games has promised they will be taking action on all the hackers who have plagued Grand Theft Auto Online over the past few months.
If you remember, the big hack involved creating billions of dollars in the game, effectively ruining the game’s economy, as well as the company’s microtransaction aspirations for the game. Now, they promise that all these hack dollars will be removed in the game, and the incoming fix will prevent such a hack from repeating.
They have also promised players who did these hacks will be punished, and Rockstar took pains to make it clear the players who received the money without asking are going to be fine. They also tell good guy players they can basically fess up to getting that money and request that it be removed from their accounts. Either way, when Rockstar applies their fix, the money will be removed.
Rockstar also encourages players to use the game’s built-in reporting functions to tell them who they have found taking advantage of the hack. If you would like to use this function, you can always Pause the game and then go to
Online >> Players >> find and pick out hacker player, then click Report >> Exploits.
One point not covered here are players who already used their money. Are those players losing some of their purchases without being asked? Or will Rockstar leave these purchases alone? I suppose the game’s more loyal players are going to find out soon enough.
