It’s too soon to say whether Dark Souls 2 will have DLC or not, but its developers state that none is planned for the game. Speaking to Edge, producer Takeshi Miyazoe stated that he doesn’t expect From Software to develop any DLC for the title.
The first Dark Souls offered very expansive DLC in the form of Artorias of the Abyss.
Miyazoe told Edge: "For Dark Souls 2, we don't even expect any additional downloadable content because we want to deliver a full game, the full experience, to fans who purchase the package from day one.
"We did do additional content for Dark Souls, but generally downloadable content for Dark Souls 2 is not really being considered. Buy the package and you'll get the full experience, and you'll have as much fun as anybody else. Spending a couple dollars on certain items does not help the experience. So no free-to-play yet!"
Dark Souls 2 is slated for a PS3 and Xbox 360 release on March 11, 2014, followed by a PC release “shortly thereafter.”
In the same interview, Miyazoe stated that From Software and Namco have never considered bringing the game to the Nintendo Wii U. "Wii U never came up, and we never doubted that (decision) either," he said. "It was more of a company decision, so I wasn't the one that decided this, but I think the audience for the Wii U is a lot different from the audience for Dark Souls."
