Nintendo has revealed the release date for Pokemon Bank in today’s Nintendo Direct, as well as a separate press release. The app launches as a holiday treat this December 27, and a related promo will net you Legendary Pokemon Celebi.
They have also revealed details on the trial period for the game. If you download and use the app anytime between launch to January 31, 2014, you will be able to make use of the trial for 31 days. Afterwards, the app will run you $ 4.99 a year. As Nintendo has pointed out before, if you opt not to use the Bank or fail to pay once, the Bank will retain your Pokemon but you will not be able to access them (just like any enterprising bank). Of course, if all you want to do is transfer your Pokemon Black and White Pokemon to your copy of Pokemon X or Y, you can do it painlessly in this trial.
Nintendo promises even another promo, encouraging fans to make use of Pokemon Bank. If you download and use Pokemon Bank between launch and September 30, 2014, you can get Legendary Pokemon Celebi for free.
Celebi is one of the most popular Pokemon, even made the mascot of a certain prominent Pokemon fansite. The guardian of Ilex Forest, Celebi can travel to time, and usually only appears in times of peace. Dating back to Pokemon Crystal, to catch Celebi required triggering an event using the GS Ball. In more recent games it has been made available via Trade or in a Forest. In Pokemon X and Y, you can get it via the Poke Transporter.
This Celebi will have Hold Back, a move that cannot be learned with normal gameplay and always, always leaves your enemy with 1 HP. It will also know the moves Recover, Heal Bell, and Safeguard. You will need to use the Pokemon Link feature in your copy of Pokemon X or Y to get the Celebi from your Pokemon Bank and store it in your game's PC Box.
Obviously, this new promo means anyone can now have a Celebi (without buying the app), and perhaps that special move means it's suitable for breeding a 6 Perfect IV? Find out the nitty gritty about Pokemon Bank here or in the video below.
