Sony Computer Entertainment has shared details on Gran Turismo 6’s latest update. Among other changes, it brings with it Red Bull Challenge.
First, let’s go through the vanilla updates. Logging in online for consecutive days will earn you bonus credits. You can earn as much as 200 % credits if you do it for five days. Career Mode will also earn you more credits.
You will find it easier to enter Seasonal Events, as the requirements have been lowered to a National B license. For a limited time, some of these events will actually reward you with cars. Two such events will be held, one between December 20, 2013 to January 17, 2014, and then one from January 2 to 30, 2014.
Now, about Red Bull, another of Polyphony Challenge’s partners. Red Bull worked with Polyphony to make the Red Bull Challenge content holiday freebies. Essentially, you’ll get two of their four racing team cars pro bono, namely, the Red Bull Racing Kart and the Red Bull X2014 Junior. Their two other cars, the Red Bull X2014 Standard and the Fan Car are also arriving at a later date. All four were designed by Infiniti Red Bull’s CTO Adrian Newey.
Red Bull Racing F1 World champion Sebastian Vettel stated that he has actually been playing Gran Turismo since he was 12, and he was looking forward to showing up in the game as a mentor.
Reservations about their microtransactions model aside, I can’t help but admire the free content Polyphony Digital is giving away. You can check out more preview screenshots in Flickr.
