[Update] Capcom has since cleared up this recent round of posts regarding Resident Evil 3. According to the OXM report, the Nemesis character will still pursue Jill Valentine but the enemy will not be able to break into safe rooms. There was some confusion as some rooms can have a typewriter save point available but not necessarily be a safe room. With that said, there will be safe rooms in the game which you can avoid the Nemesis.
Original Story…
Resident Evil has become a massive franchise as of late. The success of bringing the mainline series back to its survival horror roots allowed the development team to offer fans a remake of Resident Evil 2. This was a critically acclaimed hit and now we’re gearing towards the launch of the Resident Evil 3 remake. With a particular installment, the development team at Capcom was hoping to bring out the Nemesis character in a bigger way than before.
If you played through Resident Evil 2, the remake, then chances are you recall the Tyrant being quite a nasty character to deal with. He would pursue players throughout the game. If you couldn’t stun him, players would be forced to flee and using the safe room was a good means for protection, just like previous games. That’s not going to be an option when Resident Evil 3 releases this April.
The Nemesis character is similar to the Tyrant in that players will be pursued by the character throughout the game. In fact, when the development team was working on Nemesis, they took cues on how to tweak the Tyrant character so that the Nemesis would become a more difficult foe to deal with. Now a new shred of information has come out that will really keep players on their toes when it comes to running away from the antagonist.
Announced through the Official Xbox Magazine, Capcom revealed that the Nemesis character can break through the safe room. Apparently, this can happen if players are already being pursued by the character so if you think quickly entering a safe room would be able to keep you out of harm’s way then you’re sadly mistaken. Instead, Nemesis will bash through and attempt to kill off our protagonist which means you’ll have no means but to flee.
In other Resident Evil 3 news, a 13-minute gameplay footage was recently uploaded online which you can view right here. Currently, Resident Evil 3 is slated to launch on April 3, 2020, for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
