Telltale Games' partnership with HBO to create a Game of Thrones videogame may lead to more than adaptations of TV shows according to the wording of the agreement between the two companies.
In a press release from Telltale, the partnership is described as being "multi-year, multi title" in nature.
Telltale Games CEO Dan Connors said the studio will be taking advantage of all of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire saga, adapted by HBO as Game of Thrones, "to make something great."
Connors continued:
"Since the very beginning, Telltale's goal has been to work alongside the most talented and respected forces in entertainment, bringing their worlds to the interactive space as no other game studio can. Working with HBO to develop a new game series based on Game of Thrones is a natural fit for our studio. This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love."
The Game of Thrones title was announced at the VGX awards show over the weekend and will be episodic. Telltale is aiming for release on PC, mobile, Mac and consoles thought specific platforms have yet to be announced.
There have been two previous Game of Thrones videogames; an RPG and a strategy title both of which were received poorly. What other HBO shows would you like to see adapted by Telltale?
