When it comes to Team Ninja, the video game development studio has been working on a new installment for the Nioh franchise. Acting as a prequel to Nioh, Nioh 2 is slated to release in March, though now that it has officially reached the fabled gold status, there shouldn’t be any delays that would prevent the game from hitting the marketplace on time.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the gold status, it’s a milestone each developer strives to reach. Essentially, all the content that is ready for the game is complete and for big-name titles that have a physical release, the content is able to be manufactured on discs. All of the delays you see come up in video games are prior to reaching gold so if you’re really itching to get your hands on a copy of Nioh 2, you shouldn’t see any new delays pop up for the title.
This announcement came from the official Twitter account for the Nioh franchise. Now the development team is able to fully put their focus on post-launch content and preparing the DLC planned for its upcoming release. If you haven’t already marked your calendars, you can expect Nioh 2 to release on the PlayStation 4, this March 13, 2020.
We’ll include the narrative trailer released for the game above. As mentioned, the game will take place prior to the events of Nioh so that should help sway some newcomers to the franchise that may have missed out on the original Nioh release. In regards to the development studio, there were some hints that Team Ninja may be diving back into the Ninja Gaiden franchise though nothing official has come out in terms of a new game being in development.
