Welcome to the software dead zone. Now that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are out and available for purchase, it seems like all we have to look forward to are spring releases. Games like InFamous: Second Son and Watch Dogs stand as two of the biggest projects heading to the PS4 in the near future, but thankfully, there are some smaller downloadable games worth checking out in the meantime. Spearhead Games’ Tiny Brains might not be a graphical showcase for the PS4, but the physics-based puzzler might just be the perfect excuse to grab a few extra controllers and indulge in some cooperative fun.
The party game will be available on PSN today, promising to redefine co-op by challenging players to work together as any one of the four featured lab animals. Dangers await within the mad scientist’s maze, but thankfully, these tiny-brained characters all have unique abilities that can be combined to overcome just about any obstacle.
Simon Darveau, the director of Assassin's Creed 3, is just one big name attached to the title. He commented on the game’s highly cooperative nature earlier this year, citing the ambiguity to the puzzles as one of its most interesting features.
"Since there's no one 'right' answer to a given challenge, the right way becomes how the playtesters agree to move forward, based on what they think as individuals and how they want to work with each other."
Now’s the time to jump in. Look to download the game when the Store updates later today.
